COLLIER COUNTY – With local transmission being confirmed in the Miami Beach area, people in Collier County are on edge. As the Collier Mosquito Control District continues to spray the areas around the county, we learned there are areas where the district isn’t allowed to spray. The Picayune Strand State Forest, just south of I-75 and a half-mile from homes in Golden Gate Estates, isn’t allowed to be sprayed as the land is owned by the state. I believe they should spray it. If they want to protect the people in the state, they should spray that park too, said nearby resident Alberto Gonzales. She says she’s not concerned about the Zika virus.
